Why won't my YouTube video work when I go to full screen mode?
I struggled with this for a while.
First, make sure you have the latest version of the flash player. That didn't fix it for me even though I didn't have the latest.
For some reason, on my computer, Flash wouldn't work with my video card's hardware acceleration when changing from the small to the full screen version. So, I turned it off and I can now go to full screen mode.
Here's how to turn off the hardware acceleration:
1. Right click on the video you are trying to watch in YouTube.
2. In the popup menu, choose Settings.
3. Click the first tab if it isn't already selected.
4. Now, unclick Enable hardware acceleration.
5. Click the Close button.
6. Refresh the page in the browser.
7. Now, click play on the video and then click the full screen mode and see if that fixed it.
Let me know if it did!
If you want something to try it out on, you can watch Shania. You can watch her here in a better quality version using Windows media player. It goes to full screen much better than YouTube.

You guys should check out silverlight (http://www.silverlight.net). Its much better and does not have this problem. The high-def video support will impress you!

On the new "2.0" channel pages I can't seem to find how to go full-screen. The little full-screen icon does not seem to appear on the new all-purpose channel page. Could YouTube be phasing out support for full-screen? I sure hope not. I think not too because they recently did what seems like a lot of work to make the scroll bar hide itself in full screen.

Hi. Unfortunately I had this problem and so did a search. Thank you! While I did have to go about it differently [there were no tabs so I just clicked on the 1st of some boxes that were in a row at the bottom] I was able to uncheck 'Enable Hardware Excelleration' et voila! Fixed! Thanks so much!

This worked, but before I could do this I had to go to the "about HTML 5" link and then choose to "leave [youtube's] HTML 5" trial, a link at the middle of the page. Then it reverted to Flash and I was able to follow the helpful advice from the author of this blog. Thank you.
